Position: Cybersecurity Research & Development Lead
 
Job Description: Our team members work in an environment that is highly collaborative, fast paced, and agile.  The R&D lead will be responsible for managing our portfolio of research-oriented projects and continuing to grow this area of our consulting practice. This position may act as the Principal Investigator and/or Program Manager across multiple projects, supported by a team of additional technical SMEs as required.
 
Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Developing cutting-edge concepts to shape the future of cybersecurity in relevant domain areas
  • Designing, implementing, and evaluating new concepts, prototypes and technologies
  • Engaging with clients, industry SMEs, and government agencies to understand, identify, and pursue new research opportunities
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous experience leading R&D projects for a major corporation, industry organization, national lab, or government agencies
  • Previous experience working in electric utility operational environments including experience with Industrial Control System (ICS)/Operational Technology (OT)
  • Thorough understanding of the phases of research and Technical Readiness Levels (TRL)
  • Previous experience with IT and cybersecurity architecture across the systems development lifecycle including systems engineering, requirements development, implementation, and maintenance
  • Previous experience creating architecture documentation, concepts of operations documents, and system specifications
  • Familiarity with common network architectures, security zoning/segmentation concepts, and associated technologies
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead and/or project manager for systems design and implementation efforts
  • Practical experience and knowledge of various network and system security technologies including SIEM, data analytics platforms, end-point tools, network technologies and appliances
  • Previous experience leading technical projects and ensuring documented requirements are delivered with excellence
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in a relevant field of study
  • Previous experience as a Program Manager or Principal Investigator for research projects associated with the US Department of Energy (DOE), National Laboratories, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), or similar agencies
  • Relevant industry certifications (CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, CCNA, CCIE, MCSE, CCSS, CCSP, etc.)
  • Previous experience providing consulting services to Fortune / Global 1000 clients and/or domain experience within relevant industry verticals such as Oil and Gas, Utilities, Manufacturing, etc.
  • Previous experience developing proposals, statements of work, and general content to support business capture
