The IoT Engineer’s role is to utilize best practices and common systems to support the overall competitive manufacturing initiatives.  The ideal candidate has technical expertise in control system software programs for stand-alone and integrated control systems, SCADA systems, communicating across industrial networks using cabled and wireless Industrial Ethernet and proprietary protocols.
Position will design and develop automated assembly equipment for high volume production.  Candidates should have hands on experience in design and development of PLC based control systems for use in factory automation.  An excellent understanding of manufacturing processes and process instrumentation is fundamental success.
  • Development and execution of automation/ control projects
  • Develop cost estimates, investment forecast, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for minor project activity
  • Acquisition & Development:
  • Designing, implementing and supporting PLC, HMI and SCADA software for control systems and equipment
  • Designing, programming, testing, simulation, and commissioning (start-up) of control systems using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), touch screen operator interface terminals (OITs) and human-machine interface (HMI) software
  • Design, configure, and run simulation tests to debug programs
  • Create and update documentation for design, programming, and test of control equipment and programs.Provide detailed documentation upon project completion.Provide user training and customer support for automated systems
  • Analyze system requirements for programming computer and PLC equipment.
  • Specify computer systems to run control system software including HMI, alarming, and communication needs
  • Work with IT Operations Team to configure network hardware such as switches, routers, and servers; coordinate network system administration and IT security policies
Operational Management:
  • Develop and monitor planning timetables and project schedules
  • Participate in functional area meetings and related activities representing Engineering and to assist in improving the plan’s performance goals
  • Provide technical support and training to skilled trades within the organization.Investigate systems and equipment problems and provides technical input in problem solution
  • Ensure long term, cost effective maintenance of equipment and facility
  • Configure, program, test and troubleshooting PLC based control systems and associated components
  • Configuration of data collection system and MES integration on various platforms
  • Electrical design, testing, and commissioning of control systems, control panels, and associated equipment
  • Documentation of PLC architecture and unit testing results
  • Management of bug tracking and feature requests
  • Support, update, and troubleshoot existing systems in production
  • Specify system components and suppliers
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Support for systems installation and commissioning
  • PLC program design and development via Allen-Bradley RSView, ControlLogix, factory talk transaction manager, etc, and associated components needs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Management Information Systems
  • Microsoft certification a plus in one or more of the following: MCSE, MCSA, MCSA-Security, MCTS.NET, MCITO-DBA, MCDST
  • Five to ten years of experience within the manufacturing industry
  • Preferred food, beverage and dairy-specific process and programming knowledge
  • 1-2 years project technical lead experience desired
  • Minimum of 3 years control system programming experience or industrial automation system integration including commissioning and startup experience
  • Development and execution of multiple automation projects
  • Object-oriented programming training and experience
  • Experience in programming/developing/configuring PLC, HMI and SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC, Logix; other platforms a plus)
  • Business intelligence (BI) and report generation software experience a plus
  • HMI design experience (Wonderware, FactoryTalk View; other platforms a plus)
  • Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet
  • Exposure to low-voltage electrical design & layout (UL 508A panel design knowledge a plus)
  • Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs)
  • Variable frequency drive selection and setup (AB PowerFlex and others)
  • Component and instrumentation specification and integration
  • Database experience, including SQL Server and MS Server
  • Design and tuning of PID loops for process control
  • Proficiency in MS Windows
